course
This linear race runs from start to finish in the Réserve faunique de Matane. It follows the International Appalachian Trail (IAT) for 37 km all the way to Lac Matane.
The start signal is given at the Chic-Chocs entrance, at the Poste d'accueil John. You'll then set off on the trail that takes you to the Chic-Chocs' first peaks: Charles-Édouard Vézina, aux Perches, William Price, Petchedez and Nid de l'Aigle. The 1.5 km descent to this last summit is brutal, on ultra-technical trail with a 400 m negative vertical drop.
Progress on this route will be slow, as the SIA is renowned for its rocks, roots and dense vegetation.
ALTERNATIVE COURSE
As the UTCC takes place in protected caribou habitat, a vulnerable species, the course of the event may be modified in the case of an area closure due to the presence of individuals on the trail.
